SWMLAC Access and Audience Development Plans Ad

Consultants Wanted: Access and Audience Development Plans
Date: 5th May 2006
Source: Wells Cathedral

Wells Cathedral has been awarded a Project Planning Grant by the Heritage
Lottery Fund. The Cathedral now wishes to engage experienced Consultants to
develop an Access Plan and an Audience Development Plan in support of its
intended future capital bid to the HLF to create an Interpretation Centre in
the medieval Undercroft. Around 170,000 people use the Cathedral each year
in addition to 300,000 visitors.

It is anticipated the Interpretation Centre will consist of both static and
interactive displays to enable visitors to have a richer, deeper experience
of the Cathedral and its place in Britain's history and heritage. It is also
anticipated an Outreach Officer will be attached to the Interpretation
Centre.

The Interpretation Centre is one phase in the Cathedral's ambitious £6
million Development Project to increase access for the public, as well as
restore medieval spaces, such as the cloisters, to their original purposes.

Detailed briefs for each plan are available through the contact details
below.

Fully costed proposals to undertake one or more of the above Plans should be
submitted in writing by Friday May 26th 2006 to: The Administrator, Wells
Cathedral, Cathedral Offices, Chain Gate, Cathedral Green, Wells, Somerset
BA5 2UE or email: [log in to unmask]

Short listed candidates may be invited for interview during the week
commencing Monday June 5th, 2006.
