Postdoctoral Research Assistant within the London Thermochronometry Research Group at UCL-Birkbeck Earth Sciences

Initially, an 18 month post-doctoral position for someone with high level laboratory and instrument skills with experience of noble gas extractions and LA-ICPMS mass spectrometry. Duties will involve He extraction and U-Th determinations by dilution ICPMS, training and managing users, co-ordinating analyses, maintenance and trouble-shooting equipment. Group facilities include a Patterson Instruments He extraction line, Agilent 7500 ICPMS with New Wave 213nm laser ablation unit and (from late Autumn 2006).an argon mass spectrometer.

Applicants should have completed or be  near to completion of a PhD in Geosciences, Physics or Chemistry or a related subject with experience of working in an analytical research environment.

Salary will be according to experience based on Research Grade RA1A scales that currently range from £22,492 to £32,450 per annum.
