Janet Davis THE UNIVERSITY OF YORK and THE ASSOCIATION OF GARDENS TRUSTS seek a Writer and an Editor for the HLF-funded Project PARKS & GARDENS UK This three-year project, now in its second year, is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. It aims to stimulate interest in and deepen understanding of historic parks by developing a web portal and accessible layered information resource. It strengthens and extends volunteer participation in researching parks and garden history. The Writer will work part-time from home writing key text and web content. This will include writing sections of the database or educational resources that will also be found on the website. They will also assist with newsletter content. The successful candidate will combine key skills in writing for the web, the use of plain English, editing material for the web and organising themselves. They will have an understanding of issues regarding historic Parks and Gardens in the UK. The successful candidate will also be motivated and able to manage their own work environment and workload. The Editor will work part-time from home editing text from a variety of sources, ensuring that the database and web content meets usability standards for the web. They will also assist with newsletter content. The successful candidate will combine key skills in editing for the web, the use of plain English and organising themselves. They will have an understanding of issues regarding historic Parks and Gardens in the UK. The successful candidate will also be motivated and able to manage their own work environment and workload.
