A good name to look up re Eisenstein would be that of Naum Kleiman - one of the worlds foremost scholars on Eisenstein - who has written a lot on Eisesnstein - including his famous sequence of lions. However, the problem is that I'm not sure how much of his work has been translated into English. Maybe someone else on the list might know.
