Colleagues,

 

It gives me a great pleasure to announce a call for papers to a special issue on (Innovation in Engineering Education), for the peer reviewed “Emirates Journal for Engineering Research (EJER)”

This call is an invitation to a broad range of subject areas related to Engineering and Applied Sciences, including;

 

-          Architectural engineering,

-          Civil engineering,

-          Electrical engineering,

-          Chemical engineering,

-          Mechanical engineering,

-          Petroleum engineering,

-          Environmental sciences,

-          Computer sciences, and other related fields.

 

With the growing demands of our societies and changes world wide, pressures are consciously added on Higher Education to engage in innovative methods of teaching and learning that not only aim at enhancing the learning and teaching experience, but also to engage the industry and widen participation from an international and global market including those seeking lifelong learning and Continuous Professional Development. This special issue would therefore welcome your papers to share successful research outcomes that cover any of the following themes;

 

1.      Innovative methods of teaching.

2.      Problem based learning demonstrating successful case studies.

3.      Internationalization and distance learning.

4.      Effective use of collaborative Learning environments.

5.      Virtual learning spaces.

6.      Cognitive and pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning.

7.      The use of mobile and wireless technologies to promote learning for the mobile learner and educator.

8.      Standardization and educational standards for digital repositories.

9.      Interactive learning environments in including computer aided assessments.

  1. Flexible and independent learning approaches including blended learning approaches.
  2. Other related themes.

 

Targets and dates:

 

-         Expressions of interest via abstract submissions of no more than 300 words (31st July, 2006).

-         Notification of abstract acceptance (31st August, 2006).

-         Submission of full paper (22nd December, 2006).

-         Referees’ feedback and request for corrections (1st March, 2007).

-         Final submission (31st March 2007).

-         Publication of the special issue (April, 2007).
