Surely in the case of this FOI enquiry the PA's number IS the direct
number.

If this is a case of a company contact, they will expect to get the PA
and not the switchboard.  The real direct line is in my view a 'private'
number.

However, if the director or an officer has no PA, then we should supply
the actual direct number.

We are public servants after all and, for example, my 'direct' number is
published on in our web pages.  I don't have a PA.
