The short answer is both, although I'm curious how much protection could
be offered without seriously hindering a childs freedom. Also quite
ironic may be the case where a parent changes their plans in light of
this web site, but later finds out that the child was actually at more
risk as this is presumably unofficial data and not exhaustive. It also
of course does not predict future crimes, so trusting that data alone
wouldn't be particularly safe.

Subject: [data-protection] Keeping kids safe or a site for vigilantes?

Dear all

FYI, one of the security groups I belong to posted this site.

I thought it would be a good discussion issue, but unlikely to work in
the
UK.

www.familywatchdog.us

The site only covers the US.

When you visit this site you can enter the address and a map will pop up

with red, blue and green dots surrounding the area.

When you click on these dots, a picture of a person will appear with an
address and the description of the crime he or she had committed. This
site
was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted.

A tool to keep kids safe or for vigilantes?

Best Wishes

Jason
