Quite a few years ago I worked in IT support briefly for a brand
consultancy. I had never heard the concept previously but since then I have
heard the agency been quoted many a time on the radio and in the Press.
Indeed a brand can be valued such as when it is sold from one firm to
another.
If a brand loses its value ie through a loss of reputation that is when the
organisation has to spend a lot of money on a change of name etc.

Ask your accountant what value he puts on his own and/or the
organisation's reputation and how much is a large sum.
A couple of a years ago an accountant was fined £10K with £5K costs for a
s55 offence plus named and shamed in the Commissioner's annual report.
Bet that looked good on the professional CV.
And yes some people have lost their jobs - usually following the criminal
conviction that brought them to notice.
Don't want to get it wrong too many times then!
