Actually, a simple search in my archives shows that Mike Parsons has
contributed to JISCMAIL forums previously.

I doubt most people who use these forums care too much one way or the
other whether this kind of marketing is allowed, hence so few comment on
it, but if there is going to be a rule against it it should apply to
all. Who is to decide whether someone is a worthwhile contributor? I
rarely post to the forums but I do read them daily. So should I be
banned from advertising something users may be interested in and find
useful? Yet there are a number of people who post on a regular basis to
the forums I am signed up to who, in my opinion, rarely offer anything
of value. How should they be judged?

It should be one rule for all and should be decided upon by the
moderators.

Michael

I expect I am not a lone voice here. I do not begrudge Mike Parsons
his
promotion IF he contributes to this list. But I do not accept
"Apologies
for cross posting". Correct me if I am wrong, but this is the first
post
from him I have seen.
