We're a pretty friendly bunch, and Fridays are especially friendly with a
lot of healthy irreverence. That makes this list a generally companionable
and useful virtual place to be.
There had to be a "but", didn't there?
Today one member wrote to the moderation team expressing disquiet at what
s/he sees as points scoring by a few individuals whom they were careful not
to name. That gave us pause for thought. One person's frivolity may be
being mistaken for another person's insult. Or there may be genuine insults
(etc) making the rounds.
Our policy has never been to get involved with list messages per se, we use
the list as members rather than as moderators. And this may well be the
first time that any moderator has sent a message like this to the list.
