Dear Roland

Whilst looking back through archived e-mails on the above topic I came across your neat all-in-one solution to the problem of internal reflection, differing wavelengths and infection control. We have in the past tried something similar using hardboard (not strictly fireproof) incorporating the laser sign.
My question is: Were these metal flaps commercially available or were they all made to suit the windows in question? It is all a question of a quick solution to new theatre doors about which we were not originally consulted. Opaque film has been suggested but I am sure that will only work for certain wavelengths and is likely to peel off apart from being in place permanently and nullifying the idea of a vision panel.
I have no data on such material.

I would be very grateful for your comments.

For what it is worth; in some of the theatres I inspect use has been made
of a fold up, matt enameled surface, metal screen to cover the glass. The
screen carries the laser warning sign and is securely fixed in the closed
position when the laser is in use. The screen is easily cleanable and can
be decontaminated acceptably from the microbiological standpoint.
