Hi Shabana,
Thanks for this it is very useful to
know.
It appears our problem was due to SSL and a
seurity update to Internet Explorer. Since we have selected "SSL for selected areas and tools"
and turned it off when you are within a course
the problem appears to have been
resolved.
I think I will message the list later to see if anyone else
is having problems.
Kind Regards
Dan

Hi Dan,
Yes, basically we found that there was no more space
available on the hard drive. Tutors are uploading documents which have huge file
sizes and many are uploading material that is not particularly relevant -
this therefore is taking up space on the hard drive.
When the hard drive is completly full, blackboard does not
launch. When this problem first occured about a month ago, we had to delete some
backup files and temp files. Also I managed to get some feedback from some
usergroup members who suggested to delete files from the recycle bin. At the
time we had two courses which were using Blackboard heavily and were also
refusing to remove there unnessary material. We therefore had to move their
courses onto a different drive.
We deleted some files from the recycle bin which gave us
some room too just log in, but since the exam period is beginning we have seen a
large number of material go onto blackboard, and my fear is that the problem
will arise again.
At present I am going through courses and
converting word and powerpoint documents in pdf format, which is helping to
reduce files sizes.
Initially when I was unable to create a folder/item etc, I
thought it may of been Internet Explorer, however about half an hour later
blackboard went offline - so I knew that the problem was that the
drive was overloaded.
Attached are some of the emails I received from other
members.(not sure whether im supposed to redistribute!.
)
Hope
this helps.
Please let me know when and how you resolve this problem , it would be
very interesting if the cause is down to something else.
Many
Thanks
Shabana
Hi Shabana,
Did you get to the bottom of this as we have started having
complaints from tutors here with a similar problem. I suspect Internet Explorer
to be the problem as we can only replicate the problem in this
browser.
Any further information much
appreciated.
Kind Regards
Dan

Hi
All,
We are using version
6.2.3.23 and have encountered a problem. At present when trying to add an
item or folder we find that once we select submit it does not go through
to upload either a document or folder. Instead we find that 'the page
cannot be displayed' page appears. Is there anyway of resolving this
problem? Any ideas are much appreciated. I am worried that the system maybe
overloaded as the exam period is approaching and many members of staff
have uploaded a vast amount of documentation. I dont know whether this
would effect it but thought it may be worth
mentioning.
Thanks in
advance.
