Jo, Thanks for the workround. I will ask the lecturer to consider this approach. best, Arthur >>> "Badge, Dr J.L." <[log in to unmask]> 30/10/2006 1:56:37 pm >>> Arthur See another listing about a similar topic - search the archives 'Tutorial group using gradebook' - though this may not be what you want. In a similar situation, we had around 120 students split into 12 groups, each marked by a different staff member. The students knew which marker's group they belonged to as this also equated to a tutorial and practical grouping. I created an assignment item for each of the 12 groups, so that each marker had their own place to collect the work. The first year we did this, I just put each assignment in a separate folder and included the list of names in each group on the folder, surprisingly no-one handed their work into the wrong place, although all folders were accessible to all enrolled students. This year we used adaptive release on groups which meant that each student could only see their own group assignment - just to make sure we didn't just get lucky last year! It is the assignment tool they are using but when they go into the gradebook to do a single download of assignments the students name in the assignment download option are not listed alphabetically (they are listed alphabetically in the gradebook though). cheers, Arthur >>> Cathy Colless <[log in to unmask]> 26/10/2006 1:52:12 pm >>> Hi Arthur, You may want to suggest to the lecturers that they use the Assignment submission tool instead. One of the many advantages of the Assignment Submission tool over the Digital Dropbox is that standard gradebook matrix provides a structure to manage the submissions. This is a pain for the 8 lecturers on this module all dealing with different groups which have been alphabetically assigned. Has anyone got a workaround? thanks, Arthur >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dr. Arthur J.
