PROFESSOR LYNETTE HUNTER - (University of California Davis)
Internationalism, Performance and Public Culture
The paper will look at the ambivalent effects that globalisation is
having on the relation of performance to the nation and to individuals.
It takes a specific approach to public culture arguing that as the
faultlines in liberal humanism continue to widen, strategies for a
democratic humanism, particularly in performance, can be a valuable
source for engaged action and alternative modes of intervention and
social change.
