The National Preservation Office announces updated guidance for the Preservation Assessment Survey

The NPO’s Preservation Assessment Survey tool (PAS) has been used in over 200 UK and Ireland libraries and archives since its launch in 2001. Many participants have successfully used the outcomes to support funding bids and to inform internal planning and budgeting for preservation. For further information see http://www.bl.uk/services/npo/paslib.html.

We have recently expanded and clarified our user guidance, building on experience and incorporating feedback from users. The new guidance can be requested free of charge from [log in to unmask] . The full survey service, including licensed database and full reports, is priced at £300 plus VAT, but will be subject to a price increase from April 2007.

We hold practical workshops on using the tool, usually at the British Library in London. The next workshop will be on 25 January 2007. Individual workshops can be arranged in your own library or archive for a minimum of five participants. Please contact the NPO to discuss charges for individual workshops.
