Hearthstone,
I did a quick search of coppicing on Google Scholar. If you haven't used it
yet you should try it. Go to Google, search 'Google Scholar', open it and
search, voila.

I have heard that Native Americans in the NW did some coppicing of
hazelnuts, but I can't find the source of that bit of information.
Cheers, Melissa

Subject: Pollarding and Coppicing.

Dear people,
I would like to find out if pollarding and coppicing (a very
pertinent topic today in prevention of deforestation) were practiced
in prehistory--are there any papers, or what-not, available on the
Internet?
Were pollarding and coppicing practiced in prehistory of what today is
the American SW region?
Thank you, Hearthstone.
