Dear all, The Charcoal Analysis Web http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~easouti/ has been updated including some new references and links to databases (check out the individual pages). Also, Finally, to follow up with the list-wide electronic exchange of off-prints, here is the specific address in the CAWeb where you can find pdf files of nearly all my publications. At least us charcoal analysts should insist on saving some trees ... So here it is: http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~easouti/CV%20and%20Publications.htm Upcoming updates for the CAWeb (to be uploaded hopefully before the end of summer): The digitised archive of Cecilia Western's wood anatomy notebooks (including pdf files with anatomical descriptions of some 144 woody taxa, some of which have not easily accessible published descriptions, plus photographs of thin sections and a few drawings). The digitised archive of my botanical fieldwork in India (comprising slides of vegetation, trees and landscapes from South India - Karnataka and Tamil Nadu). Last but not least: for those interested in Indian woodlands and wood identifications, the final proofs of the book publication "Trees and Woodlands of South India: An Archaeological Perspective" (authors: Eleni Asouti and Dorian Q Fuller) have been finally sent to the publishers and will appear in print (as we are told) by the end of the year. Will post more information as it becomes available. The book contains 9 chapters including a detailed treatment of the woodland vegetation of the peninsula and its ecology, archaeobotanical and charcoal work on the Southern Neolithic, ecological theory and landscape studies in India, climate history and palaeoecology, ethnography of forest exploitation and tree uses, anatomical descriptions and ID key for the more common timber and shrub species and a photographic record of the species described. With best wishes to everybody, Eleni _________________________________________ Dr. Eleni Asouti Lecturer in Environmental Archaeology, University of Liverpool School of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology Hartley Building Brownlow Street Liverpool L69 3GS UK Tel: 0151 794 5284 Overseas: (+44) 151 79 45284 SACE Fax: 0151 79 45057 E-mail: [log in to unmask] http://www.liv.ac.uk/sace/organisation/people/asouti.htm CHARCOAL ANALYSIS WEB at http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~easouti/
