Biostatistics Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.	Project-specific

*	To ensure that an operational plan (including study specifications, schedules and budgets) is prepared, maintained and made available to all relevant members of the Biostatistics team and the Project Manager.

*	To allocate and co-ordinate resources within the team to achieve the operational plan, or to identify requirements/clashes to the Associate Director

*	To monitor progress of a project against the operational plan, reporting any deviations to the Project Manager, with reasons for the deviations and plans to recover the position, if appropriate

*	To ensure that all work carried out in the Biostatistics team is in accordance with SOPs and WPs, or to have approved documented deviations in place

*	To liaise with the client on the technical aspects of the statistical analysis of a project

*	To provide the Project Manager with timely, accurate status and budgetary reports

	2.	Operational management

*	To contribute to the general planning, scheduling and resource allocation within Biostatistics 

*	To contribute to a regular review (at least annually) of general common practices and procedures within Biostatistics

	3.	Line Management

*	To carry out a regular review (at least annually) of each individual member of your team, in order to ensure that each person's contribution is rewarded appropriately; that their individual competencies are reviewed and updated; that training needs are identified and addressed; and that all necessary steps are taken to deal with non-performance where necessary

*	To authorise holidays for those individuals in your team, in line with all operational plans

*	To set objectives and targets for each individual in your team

4.	To promote a positive image of the Company through professional behaviour at all times

5.	Other duties, as required

EDUCATION
At least degree level, or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
At least four years as a pre-clinical/clinical statistician in the pharmaceutical/CRO industry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage effectively and motivate others

INITIATIVE, JUDGEMENT AND COMPLEXITY
Able to use own initiative, apply good judgement and deal with complex issues

SUPERVISION
On an ongoing basis, minimal direct supervision

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
Senior statisticians, statisticians, statistics programmers
