5 Home/EU PhD Studentships in Biostatistics/Genetics/Chronic and Infectious Disease Epidemiology/Mathematical Modelling/Social Statistics 

 

The Division of Epidemiology, Public Health and Primary Care at Imperial College is seeking highly motivated applicants, with a degree in a relevant discipline, for 3 year and 1+3 year PhD programmes in the Departments of Epidemiology & Public Health; Infectious Disease Epidemiology; and Primary Care & Social Medicine. 

The studentships are available from October 2006 and include full payment of Home/EU fees and an enhanced stipend of £15,500 p.a. Owing to funding restrictions applications from non-Home/EU candidates cannot be considered.

 

The Division is home to one of the leading Biostatistics and Mathematical Modelling groups in the UK and internationally, and can offer a wide range of quantitative PhD projects. Examples of possible research areas include:

 

-        Bayesian differential equation models for infectious diseases

-        Statistical aspects of infectious disease epidemiology

-        Stochastic models of infectious diseases and cancer

-        Bayesian methods in spatial epidemiology

-        Bayesian non-parametric methods

-        Data fusion in genomics
