Statistician/Epidemiologist - Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Group

The MHRA undertakes continuous scrutiny of licensed medicines on the UK market to protect public health.  The Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Group is directly responsible for the evaluation of drug safety issues. In drug safety, there is a growing focus on proactive risk management planning and population based data sources. The provision of epidemiological data and expertise is recognised to be indispensable to this function. 

This group now needs a well qualified and experienced Statistician/Epidemiologist.  You will be involved in the critical assessment of risk management plans and studies into safety issues. You will have opportunities to participate in the design and conduct of pharmacoepidemiology studies, and the development of analytical methods for use in this context.  

Experienced in statistical work, relating to the design and analysis of observational studies, you will be thoroughly conversant with both the technical and practical aspects of this field.  You must have a degree, or post graduate qualification in statistics/epidemiology (or with a major statistical component) and at least one year's relevant experience.  You must welcome the opportunity of working with experts from other scientific backgrounds, to tight deadlines, in the interests of protecting public health.
