Please do not respond to this email. _______________________________________________________________________ Ref: DEV469 Region: North West England Job: Category Scientific R&D - Global Development Specialism: Statistics Department: Global Clinical Development Band/Grade: C Closing date for applications: 11 August 2006 Description This is a 12 month fixed term contract position to be located at Alderley Park, Cheshire, for one year. * Work with the Biostatistics Director to assist in the planning, monitoring and delivery of global improvement plans * Enhance the statistical systems tools and processes for statistical design, analysis, exploitation and interpretation of data * Increase the capability of Biostatistics * Participate in specific technical and statistical programming projects to support the capability development of global Biostatistics to enable the delivery of high quality statistical contributions to clinical development. Accountabilities/Responsibilities * Work with Biostatstics Director, Statisticians, Programmers and Development Information Systems to evaluate systems, tools and processes * Work with Biostatistics Action team and Improvement project leaders to monitor delivery of global and UK improvement projects and identify issues and steps to mitigate risks * Participate in statistical and statistical computing projects to deliver tools and approaches that can be utilised by statisticians supporting projects * Effectively communicate project status to wider team and senior managers. Minimum Requirements - Education and Experience The successful applicant will ideally have the following qualifications and knowledge: Qualifications * BSc in Mathematics or Statistics and * Post-graduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in Statistics, or 3 years' experience in the analysis of clinical trial data Knowledge * Statistical Methodology * Statistical/Mathematical programming Skills & Capabilities Skills * Strong organisational skills and project management skills (desirable) * Proactive and able to network effectively * Application of statistical techniques to clinical study design, analysis and intrepretation * Able to communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians both verbally and in writing * Ability to influence colleagues * Presentation of statistical results and issues Assessment Capabilities * Influencing - Draws upon appropriate influencing styles to secure positive outcomes in relation to plans or proposals, ensuring decisions align to Company objectives. * Team Working - Actively participates as part of a team, encouraging and supporting others to ensure the achievement of team goals.
