Dear colleagues,

Further to Liz’s email below, we can confirm that ACAS’s guidance on the final age regulations will be published on 18 April.

The debate that took place in the House of Lords yesterday gave a useful summary of the issues and some of the differences between the draft and final regulations.  This can be read at the following link: http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/ld199697/ldhansrd/pdvn/lds06/text/60330-20.htm#60330-20_head0

Finally, we have been working on revisions to our web-based frequently asked questions in the light of the final regulations, and we hope that these will be up on our website early next week.  We’ll let you know when both the revised FAQs and the ACAS guidance are available.

With best wishes,

Robyn and Liz

Dear colleagues

Robyn will be in touch later today with more details but meantime we wanted you to know that the age regulations have now been approved. They were approved yesterday evening in the House of Lords after a short debate. More info on this and on the publication date of the guidance to come from Robyn later today.

Meanwhile please do note that the June 15 NIACE conference advertised on our website which is being organised on behalf of the DTI on the topic of age equality still has some availability…ignore the reference to March 20 closing date for bookings but do book now f you are interested. It is being held in Sheffield. Details below – please do copy your colleagues in HR and in student services into this email…(you will need to cut and paste the link as new IT set up this end doesn’t quite manage these yet in an email)
