aiding a possible prosecution would fall under 'prevention and detection of
crime'.

Strangely enough I was looking at a similar question myself yesterday and if
you look at the following link on the Information Commissioner's website,

the very last FAQ on the document seems to suggest that disclosure would be
acceptable.
