When I dogpiled the moniker, I found this story, dating, however, from the 17th c. I bet your Lady got her name in a similar way. The family of Saint John Bosco also had some connection with a shrine, living in proximity to a Madonna del Bosco: "Il 16 di maggio del 1617 tre ragazzi del luogo che pascolavano le greggi nel bosco di Imbersago, giunti nella località detta “Fonte del Lupo” scorsero una pianta di castagno con un riccio verde, lo colsero e videro che conteneva tre castagne mature. Data la grande carestia che si abbatteva in quegli anni nella zona, l’evento fu giudicato straordinario e frutto dell’intervento miracoloso della Madonna." MG p.s.
