(Apologies for any cross-posting) Regional Co-ordinator – Culture, Children and Young People Grade: PO 12, points 44 to 47 (£33,984 - £36,402) Fixed term contract until 31 March 2008 or secondment opportunity Based in Warrington Arts Council England, MLA North West and the North West Museum’s Hub are seeking an experienced and energetic professional to promote and represent the arts, museums, libraries and archives in working with children’s and young people’s services across the North West region. This jointly funded post creates a great opportunity to really make a difference to expanding cultural and creative experiences for young people. You will be responsible for demonstrating how culture and creativity can contribute to the key outcomes of Every Child Matters and for ensuring that cultural participation and the development of creativity in children and young people is embedded in local authority corporate planning. You will have a substantial background of working within the cultural sector, sound experience of establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships or networks and have contributed at a senior level to policy planning. You will have excellent communication and advocacy skills and ideally, experience of planning and delivering cultural learning programmes for children and young people. Arts Council England is the national development agency for the arts in England funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). MLA North West is the strategic development agency for the museums, libraries and archives sector in the region, also funded by DCMS via the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA). We provide strategic leadership, advocacy, information and support, raising the profile of museums, libraries and archives and developing diverse audiences. The North West Museum’s Hub is a partnership between Manchester City Galleries, University of Manchester (Manchester Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery), Bolton Museum and Art Gallery, Harris Museum and Art Gallery (Preston) and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery (Carlisle). The Hub is working with its first partners, the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the People’s History Museum (Manchester) and Lancashire County Museums Service, to deliver the national vision of Renaissance in the Regions to increase participation, by developing world class and sustainable museums.
