Re the professional image aspect I have just complained to the BBC about
Trinny and Susannah last night using derogatory language about their 70 year
old candidates for makeover, ie 'old biddies' and one 'looks like a
librarian'! So we will see if I ever get a response!

>To add to the interesting comments made about the young qualified prodigy
>working as a Childrens Librarian we thought you would like to know that
>CILIP has decided to build on some recent successes of persuading employers
>to increase  salaries advertised  in Gazette. We have suggested employers
>look at CILIP's Salary guidelines which are available on the web.

>We are currently working on an Employers Pack which we hope to be able to
>send out to Heads of HR in the New Year.It is very much an information
>building exercise because as one of the correspondents has pointed out "if
>we don't publicise our value how will people know what we do?"  The pack
>will include salary guidance, sample job descriptions and job ads, a
>glossary of terms, introduction to CILIP and an overview of
>qualifications.HR professionals have great influence and we have high hopes
>of job ads in the Gazette being advertised at more realistic levels as a
>result of the Pack.
