Tenure-track Assistant Professor of  Italian.

Ph.D. in Italian/Italian Studies with strong background in  Second  
Language Acquisition and Applied Linguistics.   Responsibilities  
include teaching all levels of Italian language  courses; creating a  
language track for heritage speakers of Italian;  enhancing the  
Italian Teacher Certification Program; collaborating  with teacher  
education programs at MSU; working across disciplines;  and  
demonstrating outreach initiatives.  Applicants should have  teaching  
experience at all levels of Italian language and  demonstrate  
excellence in teaching as well as expertise in Applied  Linguistics  
and use of technology for interfacing with new computer  programs.   
Expectations include involvement in professional  activities, an  
ability to seek and write grants, an active research  agenda, and  
service to the department and university.  Native or  near-native  
fluency in Italian and English.
