ELECTIONS FOR CILIP PRESIDENT-ELECT
When the ballot papers arrived this week, CILIP Cymru/Wales members will
have been interested to find out that one of the candidates is from Wales.
Alan Watkin is Chief Leisure, Libraries & Culture Officer for Wrexham and
well known for his work both in Wales and across the UK.

Membership is free and open to Museums, Archives and Libraries in Wales and
is also open to members of any other organisation which may be interested in
finding out more about the Inspiring Learning framework. There is no charge
for this event, but we will need to know numbers in advance for catering
purposes.



The aim of the Network is to enable museums, archives, libraries and

potential partner organisations to find out how the Framework is being taken
forward in Wales and to share best practice, network and support each other.

3.1 UC&R Wales Branch

Visit to the libraries of the University of Wales Swansea

Thursday 8th December



A chance to see the results of a re-design of the entrance and Issue Desk
areas in the Library & Information Centre, and also hear about new
developments in library services at Swansea. This will be followed by a
visit to the South Wales Miners' Library, which provides services to the
students of the Department of Adult Continuing Education, and a home to the
audiovisual materials and  banners held in the South Wales Coalfield
Collection.

3.2 Copyright and E-learning

RSC Wales are running another Copyright and E-learning event this term. It
is a slightly revised version of the event we ran in the summer term and is
suitable for both Further and Higher Education.



This workshop will be of interest to anyone in further or higher education
who is involved in the management or development of online learning
delivery. This will include eLearning advisers and coordinators, including
learning and teaching technology staff, teaching/lecturing staff and library
and IT staff with online learning responsibilities.

The School of Oriental and African Studies has responded to widespread
protests and

the threat of industrial action by agreeing to a review of its plans to sack
