Joint Lectureship in Patient Safety

(£36,200 - £38,250 per annum inclusive of London Allowance)

Up to 3 year appointment

 

Applications are invited for the above post funded jointly by The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) and Imperial College. The post is a full-time fixed term appointment reporting to and to Professor Vincent, Director of the Clinical Safety Research Unit (CSRU), Department of Biosurgery & Surgical Technology and Professor Richard Thomson, Director of Epidemiology and Research at the National Patient Safety Agency.  The post will be based at the NPSA (50%) and at St Marys Hospital (50%).

 

The NPSA is a Special Health Authority responsible for improving patient safety in health care organisations providing NHS-funded care in England and Wales. The NPSA Department of Epidemiology and Research aims to develop the evidence base for patient safety.  Its functions include research and development, including evaluation of the impact of the NPSA; statistics and analysis; prioritisation; and a patient safety observatory.  The primary objective of the CSRU is to establish innovative inter-disciplinary research in the broad areas of patient safety and human factors in medicine.

 

The Appointee will be expected to hold a PhD in Psychology, Human Factors, Health Services Research or a related discipline or to have experience of research in clinical settings or other high-risk environments.
