The post is initially offered as a 2 year renewable
contract.
The Learning Technologies Group at Oxford University Computing
Services is
looking for a enthusiastic Software Developer to work on two
specific
initiatives within the LTG, the Academic Computing Development Team,
and the
JISC Accessing and Storing Knowledge (ASK) Project. The Academic
Computing
Development Team (ACDT) works on collaborative projects with
individuals and
groups of academics to develop technology-based teaching and
research
resources. For more information about ACDT see

ASK project is a JISC funded project to
develop pilot digital repository
software, with an emphasis on
interoperability and service oriented
architecture

The
post holder will have a key role in the design, coding, testing
and
implementation of software for both initiatives. He/She will also
assist
with the overall planning of activities and the definition of work
plans for
the development work. Other duties include consultation with
academic and
technical collaborators, and researching and writing short
reports about
specific technologies. Applicants must have a degree or
equivalent
experience. They must have practical experience in some of the
following:
J2EE (especially Java Servlets / Tomcat), SQL and database
administration,
implementation of open standards, service oriented
architecture, e-learning,
and authentication and authorisation services in a
networked environment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as
part of a team will be
required, together with the organizational ability
necessary to undertake
and prioritise a variety of duties.
