Tapes may require something different but many industrial strength document shredders will happily chew a floppy disk or CD-Rom DVD. Mine go through the same machine we use for our bulk paper files.

Subject: Re: [RECORDS-MANAGEMENT-UK] Confidential disposal of modern media

Dear all,

I have recently come across some floppy discs that need destroying but I remember some IT bod telling me that breaking the disc in half does not stop someone retrieving the information held on it if they really wanted to.  I too would be interested to see what possibilities there are for destroying such material.
