Dear Sarah and Rosalind,
Please find enclosed, from Philippa, details regarding the Framework as mentioned in your e-mail. I have not forwarded this to the "list" but if you wish me to do so, please advise which e-mail address I should use.
Many thanks

BERA-MENTORING-COACHING list
Hello everyone,
By way of
introduction: -
I am a second year PhD student researcher based at
the
School of Education,
Dearing Building,
Jubilee
Campus,
Wollaton Road,
University of Nottingham
Prior to beginning
my PhD I taught Music for 21 years in 7 secondary schools mainly in Cheshire and
Nottingham ( 6 State schools and 1 Independent
school) finishing as a Head of
Creative Arts Faculty. I also taught in a Primary School as Music
Co-coordinator for 6 years and 11 years as Head of Music i/c Performing Arts at
a F.E. College in Chester. I am trained Ofsted Subject Inspector in Music. I was
also a Subject Mentor for Music for 11 years and so thus my reason for
researching the very important area of mentoring Student Teachers for my PhD
project.
I am looking into the pedagogical strategies mentors use on a
one year PGCE ITT (Secondary phase). I perceive there to be a dichotomy
between what the literature tells us about the model(s) for mentoring and the
day-to-day practice that occurs in secondary schools.
I look forward to
discussing with you all the merits of mentoring research, and sharing my ups and
downs of being a student researcher.
Best
wishes
Rosalind
