This is a call for abstracts for an accretionary orogens session at
Fall AGU 2005 (see below). We welcome submissions on a variety of
topics, feel free to forward to interested parties.
Thanks!

SESSION OVERVIEW: 2005 AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco, December 5-9

Session T07 Accretionary Orogens: Past and Present

This session aims to integrate studies from a variety of disciplines
related to accretionary orogens which have grown via long-lived
subduction-accretion processes. These orogens are plagued by
heterogeneous lithology, chaotic internal deformation and a lack of
obvious spatial and temporal relationships. Interesting topics to
explore include: tectonic mechanisms of growth and final
consolidation, time scales of subduction, terrane accretion,
metamorphism both during subduction and final ocean closure, and
rates of crustal growth. We encourage submissions from a variety of
orogens, from Cenozoic Western North America to Paleozoic central
Asia, addressing both spatial and temporal issues as well as more
process-oriented studies.

The session is co-sponsored by the AGU Tectonophysics and
Volcanology, Geochemistry, and Petrology sections and further
information can be found
at <<http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm05/>http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm05/>

The online Abstract Submission Form is available now.
Abstract Deadline: Abstracts must be submitted to AGU by 9 September
2005, 23:59 UT
