The recent House of Commons Select Committee report on Public Libraries stated that it was “clear that a significant barrier to library use was shabby buildings”. A new website, Designing Libraries www.designinglibraries.org.uk (developed at Aberystwyth) aims to change that by giving an insight into the best, new, extended and refurbished public library buildings. Amongst other things the website has an interactive database of recent library building projects and a range of relevant resources for library planning and design. www.mla.gov.uk/news/feature_article.asp?articleid=833 6 DATBLYGU DARLLENWYR / READER DEVELOPMENT 6.1 Writer and readers Letter reply to Rachel Cusk's disappointments with her book group.
