Dear community psychology colleagues, Our gathering in Newcastle is not far away. I feel this is going to be a really important meeting. There are some interesting developments happening in Europe with the creation of a new European Association of Community Psychology and there are attempts being made to stage an international community psychology conference in Puerto Rico that is 'truly' international in the sense of not being dominated by members of the politically and economically more dominant countries in the world. I nearly slipped up as I forgot to send in my booking form for our conference in Newcastle. How are others doing? Are people able to get the money together and the time off from other responsibilities to attend? I feel it is time that our network needs to show its strength, and one way we can do that is through our numbers... You are all probably very busy, but might we think of setting off a round of email exchanges just before the conference. We have had a few sporadic bursts of discussion on this list, but it often goes very quiet. Should we do something to stir our passions the week before so when our gathering happens (sorry, I think I have watched too many Highlander movies, but I just love the ideas the word conjures!!) we are feeling a buzz that is something other than chronic stress and burnout induced by the places in which we live, love and work.... kind thoughts paul ___________________________________ COMMUNITYPSYCHUK - The discussion list for community psychology in the UK.
