Ø       Are you a library/information professional who was eligible to register for Chartership with CILIP prior to April 2005 (even if you were not actually a member)?

Ø       Are you a Chartered member of CILIP, or a Chartership candidate who registered before April 2005?

Ø       Were you a Chartered member of the LA or did you hold Corporate status in the IIS?

 

If the answer is Yes to any of these, then I would be very grateful if you could spare a few minutes to contribute to a study on the impact of Chartership in the Library and Information profession on recruitment and career progression.

 

As part of this study, I am looking to compare the level of Chartership across the different LIS sectors in the UK, the attitudes towards Chartership between non-Chartered and Chartered LIS professionals (including reasons for undertaking or not undertaking the Chartership process), and to compare the average career progression of Chartered with non-Chartered professionals.

 

The questionnaire can be found at http://website.lineone.net/~zehughes/ in two formats. You can either complete and submit it online or, if network restrictions do not allow this, download it as a Word document and send it as an e-mail attachment. Confidentiality is guaranteed – no names, e-mail addresses or other such data will be retained.
