POSITION: Tenure-Track in Women’s Studies Department for a Social Scientist specializing in Women in the US and Feminism, with an emphasis on Popular Culture
RANK: Assistant Professor
EFFECTIVE DATE: August 22, 2006
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PH.D. at time of appointment in appropriate discipline with emphasis on US feminism and popular culture. Fields of specialization may include but are not limited to sociology, comparative culture, ethnic studies, political science, anthropology, geography, psychology.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university/college level. Evidence of potential for successful research and publication. Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to develop and teach lower and upper-division courses in popular culture as well as feminist theory, sex and power, and introduction to Women’s Studies. Interest in mentoring students in the Women’s Studies Department. Interest in engaging students in applied women’s studies. Ability to coordinate multiple-section courses in popular culture. Record of community service.
DUTIES: Effective teaching of lower and upper division classes. Development of research program leading to publication in the field. Appropriate Department, College, University, and community Service
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with background and experience; probable range 53-60K.
