To all heads of departments of geography, members of the research committee, RAG, chairs and secretaries of research groups
The Funding Councils have announced the next stage of the RAE consultation available on the website http://www.rae.ac.uk/pubs/2005/04/
On the website, you will note that responses are to be submitted electronically. It is planned that the Conference of Heads of Departments and the RGS-IBG will submit a joint response. Ideally we would welcome comments for consideration sooner, rather than later. If comments can be sent early please do send them on by Friday 26 August However, some may wish to wait until after the Heads of Departments meeting on 30 August at the RGS-IBG at 15.00. The final date for all comments will therefore be Tuesday 6 September at 1000.
Please can you send comments to Lorraine Craig [log in to unmask], who will ensure that Keith Hoggart and Colin Pooley of the Heads of Departments Committee see all comments submitted.
Comments are invited on any of the sections, and in particular in the geography and environmental studies sub-panel 32. Where possible in your comments can you refer to the number of the paragraph that you are commenting on.
Hope that you are enjoying the sunny weather,
With all good wishes
LorraineYou can still register for the RGS-IBG Annual International Conference http://www.rgs.org/AC2005/registration.htm
