There are references to trout in a level at Perkin's Beach Mine, 
Shropshire, probably in the 1960's or 70's. 
The BCRA magazine Caves & Caving in the early 1980's contained some 
correspondence regarding trout in becks on Ingleborough, the only 
connection to lowland streams being through caves which would have entailed 
them being able to ascend big pitches! I think the conclusion at the time 
was they had been stocked by humans to those streams.
