medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Please forgive the lateness of this response; I'm fighting off jet lag
by catching up with accumulated mail.

According to his quite fictional Passio (BHL 8711-16), Vitus of 15.
June and of the disease named after him was aged all of seven when his
persecution began and will not have been much older when he suffered
martyrdom under Diocletian. All we know about him historically is that
a person of this name is recorded in the pseudo-Hieronymian Martyrology
as having perished in Lucania on 15. June.

Best,
John Dillon
