From the Bookstart website http://www.bookstart.co.uk/professionals/library.html 'It is generally library staff who take the overall responsibility for running the scheme. This includes ordering the packs, liasing with the health professionals, inserting the local library details, arranging delivery and storage and monitoring the scheme's success' In my experience local library staff do an excellent job in promoting and administering the scheme. With it being used as Frances suggests as a great promotional opportunity. The new Bookstart plus and Treasure Box are extending the scope and range of the initial scheme. Surely a deal could have been struck whereby all bags of books had an invitation to the family/parent/carer, and the child, inviting them to the library to 'swop' the books once they had been used, or take out more books.,telling them about the stock of the library and the other many services libraries provide to children and the whole family., and with a life membership card to the library for the child? is this a case of no joined-upness again?
