Why could not the much-discussed name Coslany be simply another example of the common type Love Lane, Grope Lane etc. (OE cos 'kiss')? It is in the right sort of location, a side street just outside the central area of Norwich. The -y is still strange, but that is also a difficulty for other explanations that assume the word 'lane' is involved. Keith
