See below. Are there equivalent good practice guides on placement
provision and access issues for disabled social work students in other
countries?

Dear list,

The PEdDS (Professional Education and Disability Support) Project is
pleased to announce the publication of the 'PEdDS Best Practice Guide :
disabled social work students and placements'. The Project was a two
year
HEFCE-funded project exploring the barriers and opportunities for
disabled social work students on placements. This guidance builds upon a
recent research study with key stakeholders in supporting disabled
students during social work education outlined in the full report, 'The
PEdDS Project : disabled social work students and placements' - both
documents can now be downloaded from the project website at
www.hull.ac.uk/pedds. There are a limited number of hard copies
available - one can be requested by completing the Best Practice Guide
order form available on the homepage of the website
(www.hull.ac.uk/pedds - second to last link, bottom of the page).

The guidance is composed of four sections directed at key groups :

*	Students

*	Practice assessors/teachers

*	Academic staff/departments including placement coordinators

*	Disability support staff

The guide was written and designed in order that it can be easily
photocopied and distributed as required.

We hope you find the Best Practice Guide informative and useful. We will
be conducting a stakeholder evaluation of the Best Practice Guide and if
you would like to be involved please contact Ben Fell
([log in to unmask]).

The Project will be holding a launch/drinks reception at the JSWEC
annual conference, Loughborough University, Thursday 7th July at 7.30pm.
If you are attending the conference, please do come and join us for
complimentary drinks and nibbles.

Yours sincerely,

Benedict Fell on behalf of the PEdDS Project Team,

Faculty of Health and Social Care,

The University of Hull,

UK
