medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Absolutely. And your latest work is wonderful.
Thank you. It was such an honor to transcribe Anna Neuper's
modelbuch.
How many of such exist? Are they just pattern books, or do they
tend to
specify the use for the textiles?
For tablet weaving, only two that I know of (and they are specifically for
brocaded tablet weaving): Anna Neuper's and an even earlier one (yes!)
that has been transcribed, but not published by Ute Bargmann. She gave a
paper on it at the last Textile Society of America conference, and I have the
paper transcript if you would like a copy. "Her" pattern book was actually
part of a large book that had information on animal care and such, too.

"But
if by 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who
welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare
of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their
civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break
through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if
that is what they mean by 'Liberal,' then I'm proud to say I'm a 'Liberal'."
John F. Kennedy, 14 Sept 1960
