NEMLAC is looking to recruit for the following four freelance posts: -Project Co-ordinator (c.40 days) -Evaluator (c.20 days) -Audience Champion-Collections (c.20 days) -Audience Champion-Young People (c. 20 days) Broadening Horizons NEMLAC’s Broadening Horizons is an exciting programme of work with non-Hub museums across the North East of England to help build capacity through sustainable museum development. The first phase of the ‘user involvement and audience development’ strand of the programme consisted of research and groundwork to understand the needs and issues of a diverse body of museums. Phase 2 NEMLAC now wishes to run a second, more audience-focused phase to build on these foundations. Phase 2 will be made up of three linked sub-projects. Each has a specific focus, which lies at the heart of museum practice: 1. Labels – fresh perspectives on an age-old format 2. Collections Policies – involve your community, strengthen your identity 3. Engaging the next generation – beyond the ‘free entry museum as bus shelter’ model AND attracting younger volunteers The project will take place between August 2005 and the end of March 2006.
