Hi anna - saw your message - just to say hello and wish you well with the rest of your projecy - if you haven't heard anything re: your loans I would suggest that you contact Dylan and ask him to liaise - though I fear that there won'e be much conservation time for anything with the Swnasea situation - we normally ask for 6 months notice for a reason! - also, re: conducress' uniform, contact Dylan and Kim Thuesing re: its return.. Kim is the new textiel conservator - her email is [log in to unmask]

Rachael,
You could try the Tower Museum in Derry [NI], which, if it hasn't changed since I was there, tried to find a balance between the two sides.

This may have come through to some of you already - sorry if it has but original got sent back to me!

Hello everyone,
I am a recent addition to the list and I am hoping that some of you may be able to help with information for my dissertation or suggest relevant contacts. I am currently studying for an MA in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester by distance learning.  I have reached the stage of the dissertation and I have chosen the following topic: "To evaluate the current Chartist displays at Newport Museum and Art Gallery and investigate new methods of interpretation of the subject, in the wider context of how museums interpret political protest."

As part of the methodology for my research, I am contacting relevant museums to discuss different interpretations of political protest. It would be interesting for me to know the framework of interpretation for relevant displays, how the subject was made accessible and what methods were used. If any of you work in museums which have displays which deal with this subject, then I would really like to hear from you.  Alternatively any suggestions for museums to contact would be good.  I am already in the process of contacting the Peoples history museum, manchester, the Peoples' Story in Edinburgh, the People's Palace in Glasgow. Also if anyone knows of any useful articles in back copies of the SHCG journal, then that would be good to know too. Thanks, Rachael Anderton
