Representing and regulating some 115,000 solicitors in England and Wales, the Law Society's remit is to serve society by improving access to the law, supporting and representing solicitors and to set the standards that underpin the profession's outstanding reputation. By delivering business improvements and change through the use of information and knowledge, our Knowledge Management team supports better decision making, improves and enhances processes, and increases business efficiency.  We're now looking for someone to help us further the information compliance component of this work across the Law Society.

As well as dealing and assisting with Data Protection and Freedom of Information requests, you'll need to identify, log and compile annual statistics relating to all enquires. We'll expect you to help in the development and management of a corporate records management programme covering all paper-based and electronic records. Your role also involves providing good administrative support to the Records Manager and the Information Compliance Manager, maintaining filing systems, drafting records disposal schedules and assisting in records audits and weeding and destruction of records.

With a relevant degree or previous experience in compliance issues or records management, you will have a good working knowledge of electronic records management and document management systems. Your understanding of the legislative requirements of Information Compliance and record keeping and of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts is essential.  An excellent communicator and team player, you can liaise with, present to and influence people at all levels and you are committed to sharing knowledge and ideas. Excellent IT skills are key.
