We're looking at the possibility of arranging our DVD and Video collections by broad categories based on those used in the retail sector e.g. Blockbuster, HMV. Does anyone else use categories (e.g. Drama, Action & Adventure, Horror, Comedy etc) rather than a straight A-Z sequence? If so, do you shelve A-Z within categories. What impact does it have on staff time for shelving? What do your customers think of the arrangement? Have you done any surveys? Any pros and cons of this sort of arrangement? All replies gratefully received!
