italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies I am a doctoral candidate in Music History at the University of Oregon where I study Italian secular vocal music of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. My research interests include the studies of how rhetoric, poetics, and literary theory of that period influenced musical composition in Italy and studies of the ways in which the literary academies shaped various trends in compositional ethics.
