An update on topical  issues in food  and nutrition, including  the
evidence  for the role of specific foods and nutrients  (unsaturated
fatty acids, antioxidants, dietary fibre, probiotics)  as "functional
foods"  and the  guidance given to aid consumer choice and food
policy.  Progress on policies for reducing salt intake and nutritional
signposting will also be presented.
